Joan Gomes-Pallares, who writes the blog http://www.devinis.org/ out of Barcelona, proposed, seemingly with a fair amount of expert opinion to back up the theory, a clone from North Piemonte known appropiately as Bonarda Novarese as the source for the Argentina cultivar.
