Long the source of confusion, Petite Sirah is such a misunderstood grape.  Dark and brooking, dark and delicious.  Yum is what I say!

The love child of Peloursin, a very old, and pretty much dead French varietal, and Syrah, that charming, eclectic Rhône grape, Durif became known as Petite Sirah because of it’s boyish good looks.  Well ok not exactly, but it does sort of look like baby Syrah grapes.

Don’t know much about Petite Sirah?  Lucky for us, Petite Sirah I Love You (PS I Love You) is here to help!  If you’re located in the greater Bay Area or can be here on Friday, February 17th, Dark & Delicious, the annual food and wine pairing focusing on Petite Sirah will take place at Rockwall Winery in Alameda.

  1. Love me some PS… especially the a luscious one with notes of spice, blueberry and bacon-fat… that's right, I said BACON.

    1. Hey! The rest of my comment got cut off. Supposed to say…

Love to learn more about this varietal as it has the same characteristics as me – Dark (haired) & Delicious. 😉 Did I win?

  2. It posted it! And yes you win, you get to hang out with ME all the time! :-p Drawing is next Monday! I sense a Petite Sirah war! heheh

  3. Petite Sirah my most favorite purple teeth wine! You know you've got a good one when it coats your mouth with velvety lusciousness, fills your senses with richness and satisfaction. A good PS is always memorable. Ever had the Mt. Vernon Winery Girly Man X-Terminator? I still remember their 2005 being power-packed and delicious!
